Hi, I’m Nina, a retired Law Enforcement officer turned crafty maker quilter extraordinaire. Throughout my thirty-year career, I always hemmed my own uniform pants! But don’t ask me to do that anymore, quilters don’t do alterations. I was raised in California but have retired with my hubby to Idaho where I can sew all day long and it is wonderful! I have had a sewing machine of one type or another as long as I can remember, making costumes for my son, altering dresses for my daughter, and making any number of cool things for our home and gifts for friends and family.
I started quilting in 2019 and finally understood what my high school Geometry teacher was trying to teach me! I love all methods of quilting: machine piecing, foundation paper piecing, fussy cutting and more. Soon after making my first forty quilts, some king size, I realized stuffing all that fabric through the throat of a domestic machine was not fun and I longed to create awesome stitch designs on my quilts with the aid of computerized technology. My first Long Arm machine didn’t have the computer, but I could free motion great finishes on my quilts. Once we moved to Idaho, I made room for my very own Long Arm machine with Prostitcher and really love how I can make my customer’s quilts something special.
To further my knowledge for all quilty things, I took a pattern writing course and I am excited to share my designs with you! I hope you love them as much as I do. If I am not behind a machine, you might find me swimming laps at the rec center or walking the dog along the river; Idaho is such a pretty place to live!

The Meaning of Ten-7 Quilting

One of the many things you have to start to memorize when you go into a Law Enforcement career is a radio code, or Ten Code. 10-7 is something you hear often on a police scanner and usually more like this: “Ten-7 station”, “Ten-7 Dispatch”, “Ten-7 out the pumps”, and “Ten-7 Reports.” So Ten-7 means out of service. When I retired from law enforcement, I thought it was appropriate to say that I would be quilting and so, not responding to calls for service any longer because I am officially out of service and busy quilting!

Testimonial

Nina and I quickly became friends when we found out we were both quilters. She has mentored me as I came back to quilting a few years ago and most recently has become my longarmer. She takes time to find a pattern that works with the quilt and the quality of her quilting is excellent. I highly recommend Nina and Ten-7 Quilting. "

Testimonial

Ive known Nina for years from work and she has been a personal friend of mine. When she started her quilting business, I wanted to be apart of all the beautiful quilts she was making. I asked her to make a quilt for my niece. I told her the and designs I wanted and she ran with the idea. I trusted her and the end product was absolutely amazing! My brother and his wife were so happy with the quilt as well!
